What is Imbolc or Candlemas ??

Imbolc (pronounced IM-bolk), which is often called Candlemas, is the time when Wiccans and Pagans celebrate the renewing fertility of the Earth. Imbolc occurs on February 2nd. It's no coincidence that many people celebrate Groundhog Day on this date. What is Groundhog Day but a way to let Nature reassure us that spring really will come?

Imbolc, a Greater or Major Sabbat, is a holiday of purification and of the renewed fertility of the Earth. The Greater or Major Sabbats -- Samhain, Beltane, Imbolc and Lughnassad -- occur at the cross quarters, the midpoints between solstice and equinox. They mark the turning of the seasons and are considered to be very powerful days in and of themselves. Midpoints are considered to be times of great power because most things in Nature reach the peak of their strength when they are in the middle of their lives.

Brigid - The Presiding Deity

Whether you call her Brigid, Brigit, Bricta, Bride (pronounced "breed"), or by another of the many variations of her name, this Celtic goddess of fire, water, smithcraft and the hearth is the presiding deity of Imbolc. The many blessings that she bestows include healing, fertility, protection, warmth, wisdom, sustenance, inspiration and creativity. Imbolc is a wonderful time to call upon her for blessings.

How to receive the Blessings of Brigid

Brigid is known for, among other things, her kindness to animals. Spreading Imbolc Blessing Powder (made by Mountain Magik) calls forth her blessings, and also provides winter food for birds and other small animals.

Imbolc Blessing Powder is available at the New Earth Center from MountainMagik. Your Imbolc Blessing Powder will be in a beautiful Glass Container, tied with ribbons.

On the morning of Imbolc (February 2nd) take your container of Imbolc Blessing Powder outside and sprinkle the powder around your home to attract blessings to yourself and your household. Start in the East. Some of the powder may also be left in a sea shell as an offering outside. You may also leave some of the powder outside in a bird feeder as an offering of food for all small animals and birds.

Whistling is a traditional way to invoke Brigid, so whistling cheerfully as you toss the powder adds to its magic. You will also receive an invocation, from Mountain Magik , on parchment paper.

The ribbons tied around the glass container may be retained as a charm.

I view my artwork more like a kind of magic... my goal is to create something that makes others feel something when they look at it. I've never been properly trained, I just follow my paintbrush. I feel my best pieces are those that come from the heart and with every piece I do I put as much of myself into it as possible. When I put brush to canvas I go into a trance like state and I am guided in spirit as I paint... I charge each painting with healing energies as it comes to life. My hope is that through my artwork others may find something special that may be needed in their life .. a bit of magic healing by way of paint and canvas.

Displaying my artwork for others to see is like showing them pieces of myself.. a very hard thing to do. It makes me very happy and proud that other people have liked what I do. Even if people stop buying my works of art, it will always be something I do.. I love it and hope that it shows each time I put my paintbrush to the canvas and each time I create something new.

From ancient times until today, conscious breathing remains among the most powerful, effective, and natural methods for centering ourselves in presence and preparing our being for opening to the spirit. Breathing is a life force, something we do from the day we are born until the day we die. This makes it powerful, powerful enough to affect our relationships, facilitate our health, and calm our emotions.

From the dawn of our birth until the sunset of death, we breathe, always and everywhere. Indeed, breath defines our life and supports us body and spirit. Besides being central to life, ever-present, and connected to the spirit, breathing involves an easily noticeable complex of physical sensations. Thus, the practice of breath awareness was widely embraced by our ancestors in the spiritual pursuit.

The awareness of sensations that is created by conscious breathing provides a path for you to transform emotionally. This kind of focus allows you to experience a strong release from stress, allowing you to let go of your past traumas and demons instead of wasting energy holding them in.

Conscious Breathing accesses the inner power of the breath. By breathing in this manner, you're telling your body that it's safe for stress and fear to rise up; stress and fear have to be at the surface in order to be let go. Once they are let go, a sense of relaxation and serenity take over.

When you are concentrating on nothing but your breathing, you are letting go of past worries and future apprehensions. You are doing what everyone aspires to do: living in the present moment. In the present moment there are no worries, there is no heartache, everything is simply perfect. The more time you can spend in this present moment, the more your mind and body will adopt this notion of blissfulness.

I always love the end of a year and the start of a new one. It is such a wonderful feeling to me, like a blank canvas, a starting over...a rebirth. I don't make New Years resolutions, but I do perform a different type of New Year ritual.

We will perform a Burning Bowl Ceremony. We all have regrets, fears, things from our past that we hold onto for one reason or another. Is'nt it time to finally let those negative energies go, to make space for Divine Love, healing and acceptance to take their place? If this speaks to your heart and you truly wish to rid yourself of some unwanted baggage than the Burning Bowl Ceremony is a wonderful way to release and let go of the past.

Once these issues have been burned-they are gone, there is no digging them up again in the future. This is your chance to truly free yourself of old fears that may be holding you back from realizing your true purpose here.

Using a Meditation Mala

What is a Meditation Mala ??

A mala is a string of 108 beads with one bead as the summit bead call a 'sumeru'.

A mala is a tool used to keep your mind on the meditation practice. Malas are generally made from different materials such as tulsi wood, sandalwood, rudraksh seeds or crystals. Each type of material has certain properties which subtly affect the subconscious mind.

The mala beads are moved in rhythm with the breath and the mantra or affirmation.

The mala may be worn after it has been 'charged'.

Dancing Goddess Lecture Series

The Dancing Goddess Series is an interactive study of the Goddesses, every 2nd & 4th Thursday night at the New Earth Center. We will study and review one Goddess per session in the series.

Dr. Kimberley Harrell, D.D. will present a lecture on the history, myths and attributes of the Goddess. Followed by a guided meditation to connect with the Goddess and then an exciting hands on ritual and/or invocation to honor the Goddess. "The Goddess path is within you ... that is where she lives, even when you forget to look for her. Look for her there, and you will always find her." The Goddess has never been lost. It is just that some of us have forgotten how to find her.

We will begin the Series with the Major Goddess of each Pantheon, the first few will be Athena, Kuan-Yin, Diana (Artemis), Aphrodite, Hathor, Hera, Isis.

at 7pm SideShow Bennie and Anna Fiametta are an old fashioned thrill ride. Their act is a throwback to the circus and carnival side shows that were popular and considered family entertainment in the early part of the last century. The side show had it's heyday in the period between the world wars and started dying out due to economics and political correctness. Bennie and Anna have updated the acts to a more modern presentation and are bringing it back to a new generation.

They have performed from border to border and coast to cost and have left audiences laughing and wincing with their peerless feats of physical phenomenon. It is an amazing show that is entertaining, fun and maybe, just a bit educational (but don't let that stop you from coming) Acts such as The Human Blockhead, The Barefoot Dance Of Danger and even The Human Dartboard may make you squirm a bit but they are done with humor and laughs.

Now what does an act such as this have to do with a New Age Emporium like The New Earth Center?? There are several reasons. The human body is an amazing and complicated piece of machinery and a person can train their body to do almost anything, from holding one's breath for over 4 minutes like the tankless deep divers do to assuming intricate yoga positions to, yes, driving nails up the nose and putting bare hands in dangerous animal traps. This show is a celebration of the miracle that is the human body. It is also the full moon in October, just a few weeks from Halloween. It is that time of the year where everyone likes a good scare. The act would be rated approximately PG13 but we have had 5 year olds in the audience who loved our show and wanted their photos taken with us afterwards. ABOUT LE' CHAT MEOW:
Musically speaking, do you enjoy something a little off the beaten path once and awhile? Do you mainstream with the best of them but still enjoy a good acoustical set when you hear one?

This trio, fronted by Laura Joseph (vocals/acoustic guitar), plays what I’ll call a cool, original set of eclectic songs. Ms. Joseph writes all the material, and is accompanied perfectly by Greg Urbaitis on the upright bass (along with the mandolin and melodica), and Suzie Wright on the djembe drum (and various other percussive instruments, or as she calls them, toys). The result varies from a rich, smooth, and never boring smorgasbord of sound. However, since variety is the spice of life (and I think the spice of music too), the mood sometimes shifts to a jarring, stark, and powerful mode, all courtesy of Joseph’s emotive soprano vocals combined with her crisp, staccato strumming, which often bursts into the forefront. The transitions from delicate and smooth to powerful and sometimes even haunting, all without the aid of high-powered amplification, was quite refreshing. As for the songs themselves, they’re generally about relationships (good and bad) and life reflections, and as such have that classic folksy feel of poetry set to music. You can hear some streams of their music on mysapce.com/lechatmeow. You will also find a long list of the band’s diverse musical influences. If that doesn’t pique your interest I don’t know what would. That diversity certainly has a powerful, positive effect on the music. The band plays predominantly in and around Nashville, so check their myspace before heading down to Music City and make a night of it. But if you never get to Nashville, don’t despair.

09/09/09 What does it mean to you ?

In the Mayan tradition, there are 9 deities (Gods/Goddesses) that will supposedly come at the "end date" of the Mayan calendar (2012). As many of you know, there is a hiearchy of spiritual consciousness, and the Soul ascends to a higher level when it has learned the lessons of the previous. Today marks the beginning of our collective ascension to the highest level possible, level 9 and the top of the pyramid so to speak. An Awakening.

Change is inevitable and with the 9 influence, an incredible amount of change in a short period of time is what is occurring. Banks, businesses, world commerce, politics and even educational institutions are collapsing, re-building and transforming at an unbelievably rapid rate. Today, there is great power to be had if you are honest with yourself and committed to doing your part, serving a greater purpose and moving beyond any barriers you've imposed upon yourself and taken on as truth. As a collective we grow today. Today marks a new chapter.

From a Numerology standpoint, I would also offer that the repetition of the 9 increases the power of a 9 vibration. The 9 vibration is all about power beyond this world, the "end" of the single-digit cycle embodying all the other numbers before it (how in astrology, Pisces is the last stop on the karmic wheel if you will, possessing all the traits of the signs before it and a sign that has incredible compassion for humanity...because they have LIVED IT ALL and SEVERAL TIMES OVER. The same is true for the 9. When you have it repeat three times, that signals an ENDING. Not destruction. Not chaos. Unless of course, you choose to cling to the old way of doing things and then, yes it does feel like the "end of the world...as you know it. But, not necessarily the end." Also, if you combine the entire date for today, it adds up to a "28" which breaks down to the Master Number 11.

What this means for YOU: Karmic patterns are showing their true colors today. If there is anything you have NOT DEALT WITH, it will keep coming back and with increased power today in the form of repetitive thoughts, physical reactions/symptoms and a general feeling of unrest, unless you take full responsibility for your part in creating the situation. Then you are FREE and you free EVERYONE INVOLVED. You need not do this in person. Energy works in wonderful ways and by simply intending love and forgiveness for anyone or anything you feel hurt/caused hurt towards, the karma is balanced and you are living in full integrity. It's a powerful day indeed to release yourself of the bondages that hold you back. The Angels and Goddesses applaud you!

Pacha Mamas performances include movement and improvisation, but it is the music that drives them, singing and playing primarily their original songs. Music that can't be neatly categorized due to the fact that the styles they use are as diverse as their backgrounds ranging from those that are a cappella and accompanied by African drums to tunes that might have come from a Broadway show. What they all have in common is chiming harmonies and upbeat themes, many spiritual in nature. It is their intention to create a celebration of what is good in the world by emphasizing the things that connect and empower us all.

Pacha Mamas is comprised of unique individuals who work in harmony with each other and spirit to create and express. By opening and extending their hearts in this way, they affirm healing and connection in the world.

Marquetta Dupree has trained for 10 years in African Dance and has just finished teaching a year of African Inspired Dance classes. She is a graduate of Interplay's Leadership program, a path of spontaneously embodying and creating art from life through playing with song, story and dance in solo, partner and group play. Marquetta spends as much time as she can singing, dancing, and telling stories while practicing the art of living in the "present moment". Marquetta is one of two daughters of performing artist Adora Dupree, who passed over in 2004.

Angela Holley is a graduate of Interplay's Leadership program as well. She is creator of the critically acclaimed "Holley's Country Follies" and "Wildwood Flowers - The June Carter Musical". Holley is an award-winning actress who has been in show business for over 20 years. In addition, she owned and operated Cabaret Creations, where she created, produced, and performed a variety of cabaret shows for multiple venues. Most recently she has begun taking her spiritual life and her own music more seriously composing several "spirit songs" as part of the journey to share with others. THE PACHA MAMAS!!!!!

Meet the Artist

Kristianna was born to bring magic into this world. A role she hasn't been comfortable with for years, but is now embracing it whole heartedly. She graduated with honors from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre.

Her art was born not from technical training, but through inner child healing and a practice of Kundalini Yoga. The magic still does and has always existed in this world-in you. Tennessee Healing Arts Center, The New Earth Center located in Hendersonville Tennessee offers Essential Oil Therapy. Essential Oil Therapy is a dynamic healing modality that works at a cellular, molecular level as well as on an emotional, psychological level.

Essential Oil Therapy is an ancient healing art utilizing the distillation process of plant materials to extract powerful concentrated essential oils. These oils have been effectively used around the world for centuries for therapeutic purposes such as fighting infection, strengthening the immune system, reducing emotional and mental stress and providing a basis for preventative medicine. This field is recognized and practiced in Europe by physicians, nurses and hospitals. Essential Oil Therapy complements other Health Care Modalities, both Western & Eastern.

As early as 400 B.C., Ancient Egyptian healers put small herbal cones under a patient's headdress. As the cones melted, their curative oils were absorbed through the scalp and healing vapors were inhaled.

In pre-Columbian Mexico, the sick visited huts filled with tiny indoor pools. While the water was heated to high temperatures, rocks were scattered about the pools and, on them, healers laid flowers or herbs. Hours later, as steam penetrated the plants, curative vapors were inhaled. And when the plants' sticky oils collected on the stony surfaces, the fragrant ointment was sometimes massaged into the body.

This century, essential oil therapies have again enjoyed great appeal. In the 1920's, Italian scientists documented their bacteria-destroying capacities and their ability to impact the nervous system. During the 1930's, French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse coined the phrase aromatherapy, to describe therapeutic inhalation of essential oils. During the 40's, French physician Dr. Jean Valnet used them in ointment form to disinfect and heal war injuries.

More recently, research has revealed that a plant's essential oil regulates its hormone system and protects it against disease. Scientists think the oils work in a similar way within the human body. Used properly, they combat problems such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, headache, sexual dysfunction, obesity and even nicotine cravings.

Most of the Aromatherapy Essential Oil Therapy sessions are between 50 - 70 minutes.

VIBRATIONS OF COLOR

Kevin Schlatt has been taking photographs for over 30 years. His photographic "eye" has been informed by a wealth of life experience, personal interests, and values. Kevin is a collector and "saver" who likes to hold on to things, including beautiful moments. He has always had an attraction to and appreciation for the creative process - human stirrings of spirit, heart and soul that inspire the mind-full awareness of using a tool, planting a garden or making music. His love of nature and the Native American culture & heritage are prominent aspects of his life journey.

Kevin and his wife Karen Renée Robb came to Nashville in 2000 based on their interest in music and desire for a simpler life. They have been blessed by having many animal children over the years and currently share their home with three dogs and three cats. All of them have been rescued.

Kevin spent four years as a luthier & repair technician for Gibson Guitar Repair & Restoration where his craftsmanship, eye for detail and focus merged to precisely restore treasured instruments. He left Gibson three years ago to commit his time and energy to the craft he loves - photography!

Kevin really enjoys photographing animals and capturing people in the moment. Special events, family reunions, milestones, important gatherings and historic moments are among his favorite venues. For Kevin it's all about documenting the moment and providing a way for himself and others to re-connect to that moment every time they look.

Tammie Dodge was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, of Cherokee, Choctaw and Chickasaw decent. Tammie's mother said she had a calling to art at a very young age. Growing up her grandfather told her many stories about the Indians and their heritage. He enjoyed showing her art and would take her to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa which houses the largest collection of western and Native American art ever assembled. His influence had a strong impact on her life and love of being in nature and capturing it on canvas.

Over the years Tammie moved from coloring books to painting and drawing portraits. She did her first few portraits at age 10 for her family, which they loved. Her first painting of "flowers in a vase" created when she was 11 is with her Aunt to this day.

Tammie attended a Magnet school for the Arts and spent four years immersed in art. She loved it. She learned everything from silkscreen printing to block ink printing, sculpture and all kinds of drawing and painting techniques.

After graduating from high school she thought she had to put away her love for art. Tammie went to business school and studied accounting, which lasted 2 years. She hated it. She eventually went back to school at Oklahoma State University for a degree in Visual Communications.

After graduating she went to work at a local television station and has been working in TV ever since. She enjoys the variety of activities that each day brings. Tammie currently works in Nashville at WTVF as an Art Director. Along her journey she has won several awards for design including a few Emmy's. Even with the creativity she experiences each day in her work, Tammie felt something was missing. As a married mother of three, there seemed to be little time to fully express her artistic passion. She watched other friends around her doing craft shows & painting -- giving time to express their inner art in a public way. Envy paved the way for Tammie to finally give herself permission to express her own inner beauty & creativity in an outer way.

Our July Summer Concert Series (Full Moon Party) will feature a Blues Mix Band ... "THE CONNECTION" !

There are Seven members of 'The Connection'. They play a great mix of Blues, Classic Rock & Classic Country. Accompanied by KeyBoard, Guitar, Harmonica, Drums & other Percussion instruments ... the group members alternate as 'lead' singer for a wonderful and entertaining night of music & fun.

The concert will start at 7pm on the Front Patio at the New Earth Center, the Whistle Stop Cafe will be open for food and drinks during the concert. Including our full selection of Vegetarian Sandwiches.

There is also Lawn Seating, bring your Lawn Chairs or Blankets for some of the best seats in the 'house'.

There is a suggested $5 Love Offering at the gate for the band.
